To say that Lee has dedicated his adult life to teaching would only be a half-truth.  The thing is, while Lee has been teaching math for over 30 years, he hasn’t been teaching students math so much as he has been motivating students to learn – and even enjoy – math.  As such, Lee sees himself as a highly-educated, wildly-energized motivator of learning.

It turns out that his students think of him that way, too.

In 2005, for example, one of Lee’s former students, Maria, was so moved by her experiences in Lee’s math classes that she wrote a character study essay about him in her drama class entitled “A True Inspiration.”  The last sentence of her essay sums up her impression of him quite succinctly: “Everyday he brightened my day with his enthusiasm and inspired me to always do my best.”

Indeed, the words “enthusiasm” and “inspired” seem to form a common theme when Lee’s students characterize their experience with him in his classes.

In 2010, for example, the parents of the students Lee taught were so inspired by his enthusiasm and dedication, they nominated him for a KARE-11 Take Care of Your Community Award.  What’s more impressive than that?  Lee actually motivated his trigonometry students to arrive at school as early as 5:00 a.m. to study for a college-credit Trigonometry test in his class later in the day, a fact documented by the KARE-11 news crew interviewing Lee in his St. Francis High School classroom at 5:30/6:30 a.m. about his award.

While Lee has now retired from high school teaching, his passion for motivating others still burns very strong. His appetite for teaching continues in the classroom at Anoka-Ramsey Community College inspiring college students to find their passion for mathematics.

At his speaking engagements, Lee brings his proven approach to motivating students out into the broader world.  During his high-energy presentations, he motivates audiences of all kinds to find and rekindle their passion for their work, and he helps them direct that new-found passion toward achieving their professional goals and personal dreams.
